40 years of fitness, 40 years of music - a playlist

This year, Holmes Place turns 40. A lot has changed, including the music we listen to. 40 years of music is a lot, so here is a playlist that is a trip down memory lane.

Yes, we definitely look young and hip, but it's been a while since we opened our first club on Chelsea, London. A lot — and we genuinely mean A LOT — has happened in the meantime. For instance, the internet happened. We're not faxing people — we email. We also text or chat, we stopped using beepers. We take photos with our smartphones now. And, most importantly now, we make playlists instead of recording music on CDs or cassettes.

Music and the way we interact with it has changed a lot in the last 40 years too. With that in mind, we tried our best to select the music that left an undeniable print on pop music and beyond since 1980. We have songs for everyone's taste and age: '80s, '90s, '00s and '10's, you name it.

Starting with the diva Grace Jones, we proceed to the revolutionary sound of New Order and their iconic Blue Monday [link para o artigo do Blue Monday]. A quintessential U2 song, the experimental music of Primal Scream or the revival of New York rock scene by The Strokes are also part of this playlist. There's Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Arcade Fire and Vampire Weekend — some of the biggest stars of the music scene today.
